On day one we halted operations to conduct a thorough clean-up of all areas and fix substandard conditions. A serious accident some two days into our ownership gave us a strong real life example to help educate employees and all employees attended one day workshops on Zero Harm which used DuPont industrial theatre to highlight accidents and their causes.
Strong visibility of management leading by example is key and we have instigated a practice of unexpected management audits to check safety. The change has been dramatic with a substantial reduction in LTIs, only 13 since wetook control and in the severity of incidents.
